How are poor Nigerians feeding under the Tinubu government?

Since President Tinubu took office in May 2023, removal of petrol subsidy and foreign exchange policy changes have driven up food prices, transportation costs, rents and reduced purchasing power, making feeding a daily struggle for poor Nigerians who now skip meals, reduce portions or choose cheaper low-nutrition foods. Families of minimum-wage earners, traders, artisans, farmers, pensioners and unemployed youths face diminished incomes against rising costs of rice, beans, garri, yam, maize, oil and other basics, worsened by high petroleum product prices that increase farm-to-market transport expenses.

Pidgin: Since President Tinubu enter office for May 2023, removal of petrol subsidy and foreign exchange policy changes don push food prices, transport cost, house rent and reduce purchasing power, so feeding don turn everyday struggle for poor Nigerians wey now dey skip meals, reduce portions or choose cheaper food wey no get enough nutrition. Family of minimum-wage workers, traders, artisans, farmers, pensioners and unemployed youths dey face income wey no dey strong again against rising costs of rice, beans, garri, yam, maize, oil and other basic things, e worse because of high petroleum product prices wey dey increase transport from farm to market.

How this affects you: Poor Nigerian households including minimum-wage earners, petty traders, artisans, farmers, pensioners and unemployed youths are affected by reduced purchasing power, skipped or reduced meals, and inability to afford basic nutritious food due to rising prices.
