City Boy Movement meets Christian leaders in Bauchi and Gombe ahead of 2027 vote
The City Boy Movement says its Directorate of Christian Religious Affairs has met Christian leaders, women and youth representatives in Bauchi and Gombe states to seek support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. Details were released to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday 28 October, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.
The meetings were led by Belusochukwu Enwere, who heads the movement's Directorate of Christian Religious Affairs, NAN and the Nigerian Tribune reported. They brought together leaders of several Christian denominations, along with women, young people and community representatives.
According to the reports, the movement said the aim was to build its relationship with Christian communities in the two states and to tell people about the Tinubu administration's policies and programmes. Enwere asked the church leaders to take that message to their congregations and communities.
“Religious leaders have an important role to play in educating their followers about the political process and encouraging them to participate actively in deciding the future of our country,” he said, according to NAN.
He also called for a peaceful campaign. “We must promote our message without violence, intimidation or anything capable of disrupting the peace of our communities,” he said. The organisers urged religious leaders to promote tolerance and asked that campaigns focus on policies and issues affecting citizens.
Bauchi and Gombe are both in the North-East. The meetings are part of the movement's wider plan to reach different regions and social groups before the January 2027 general elections, NAN reported. Other parties and support groups are also stepping up meetings with community leaders as campaigns get under way.

How this affects you: Nothing changes for voters because of these meetings. It shows campaigns are now reaching out through religious leaders, so expect more political messages in community and faith settings before the January 2027 election. You are free to make your own choice at the polls, and no religious or political group can register you to vote; only INEC does that.
