Kebbi defends position on former govs’ entitlements

The Kebbi State Government defended its stance on pensions and severance gratuities for former governors by citing the 1999 Constitution, the Kebbi State Pension and Gratuity for Former Governors and Deputy Governors Law No. 11 of 2004, and a 2010 directive from the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Officials stated that decisions follow legal provisions which do not extend certain benefits to governors who served between 1991 and 1993, and emphasized that the position reflects law rather than personal or political animosity while still showing goodwill through other assistance.
