Kalu rejects call to summon INEC chairman over 2027 polls

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu opposed a motion to summon INEC chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan to brief the House of Representatives on 2027 election preparations. He said the commission's regular public briefings are enough, any extra concerns should go to the relevant House committee, and summoning him now could distract INEC, create panic and undermine confidence; the House amended the motion and referred it to the Committee on Electoral Matters.
