Imam removed after campaigning for Tinubu at Bauchi mosque

An imam in a Bauchi mosque was removed from his position after repeatedly using his sermons to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election by claiming Tinubu was not responsible for insecurity and economic hardship, which he attributed to end-times phenomena. The mosque committee warned him multiple times against turning the mosque into a political platform, rejected his proposal to rename it after Tinubu, and ultimately suspended him for violating rules that mosques are solely for worship.

Pidgin: One imam for Bauchi mosque don lose im position after im dey use im preaching to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu re-election by telling people sey Tinubu no be di cause of insecurity and economic hardship, wey im talk sey na end-time thing. Di mosque committee don warn am plenty times make im no turn mosque to political ground, dem reject im plan to change di mosque name to Tinubu own, and dem finally suspend am for breaking di rule wey talk sey mosque na only for worship.

How this affects you: Imam Dahiru Abubakar lost his position as imam of the Abdullahi Bin Zubbair mosque and was told to build his own mosque.
