Health workers threaten strike over unpaid allowances

The Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals directed members nationwide to mobilise for a strike after the Federal Government failed to implement agreed salary adjustments, pay 19 months of reviewed professional allowance arrears, and address stagnation on CONHESS levels despite a prior 84-day strike and a February 2026 settlement. The union issued the directive after a National Executive Council meeting in Enugu, also demanding promotion of eligible professionals, inclusion in call-duty allowances, suspension of certain health bills, better protection from assaults, and improved Ebola preparedness.
