How to check your voter registration and PVC status with INEC

Last checked: 29 October 2026

You need your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to vote. At polling units, INEC checks voters with the PVC on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). You can confirm your registration online on the INEC voters portal.

What you need

  • Your full name and date of birth, or your Voter Identification Number (VIN)
  • Your state of registration

Steps

  1. Open the INEC voters portal and go to the voter verification page.
  2. Check your status using your name and date of birth, or using your VIN.
  3. If you registered but have not collected your card, use the Uncollected PVC option on the portal to see where to pick it up.
  4. If your card is lost or damaged, use the Lost or Damaged PVC option to apply for a replacement.
  5. Take your PVC with you on election day. Accreditation and voting run from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, according to INEC.
